Claim Your Place: Free Listings on Google, Yahoo and Bing

by Bill Good Marketing on November 13, 2011

Each of the three major search engines is heavily pushing services to facilitate LOCAL SEARCH. The reason is simple: a substantial percentage of searches are local. I’m not looking for an Italian Restaurant anywhere. I want one in Sandy UT. That’s local search. Google, Bind and Yahoo of course want you to make that local search with their engine.

When people look for a financial advisor, they look locally. They will search for “financial advisor Draper UT,” not “Financial Advisor Utah.”

This is why it is so important to put your name, address and phone number on EVERY page of your website. That will help you be found.

You also need to claim your place. This is your free listing on each of the major search engines.

If you have not done that yet, I found some excellent instructions for you by web designer Theresa Sheridan. She not only explains how but gives more info on why.

Read “Leverage local SEO wit Google Places, Bing Local and Yahoo Local.”

Then do what she says.
